The Golden Oldies: a tribute to South Africa’s musical legends this Valentine’s weekend at Kirstenbosch
This Valentine’s weekend, the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts will offer the perfect mix of old-school charm, legendary talent, and heartfelt love with a special performance by The Golden Oldies this Sunday.
Celebrating the golden era of music, this concert will be a tribute to South Africa’s iconic musical legends and is set to fill the air with timeless songs that have captured the hearts of generations.
Created by South African music legend Terry Fortune, The Golden Oldies is a movement dedicated to honouring the veteran artists who shaped the country’s musical landscape.
The concert will highlight the "Golden Agers," seasoned performers whose artistry has stood the test of time.
Award-winning entertainer Waseef Piekaan and renowned arts advocate Marlene Le Roux will host the evening, bringing their signature charm and insight to the stage.
The concert will feature a stellar line-up of veteran South African artists, including Madeegha Anders, Andrew Young, Richard Ceaser, Thembi Mtshali, Mzanzi Tenors, and Willie van Zyl. Each performer will bring their unique style, paying tribute to the golden days of music.
Terry Fortune, reflecting on the significance of the concert, said, “The Golden Oldies repertoire will feature songs from an era that produced timeless, iconic melodies—music that remains just as beloved today as it was decades ago.
