Cape Town – The body of a 17-year-old Hanover Park girl who had been missing for several days was found in a field next to Chrystal Primary School yesterday afternoon.
According to Philippi police, the victim had wounds on her body and head. The motive for the attack is unknown.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said no arrests had been made.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of a 17-year-old female whose body was discovered in an open field in Greenturf Road, Hanover Park, on Sunday afternoon at about 3pm are under investigation,” said Twigg.
Weldon Cameron, acting deputy chairperson of the Hanover Park community policing forum, said he hoped the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
He said there were “two youngsters that are known to the community who have been accused of savagery. There is an ongoing investigation and we hope that the suspects will be arrested in the next few days.”
