Youth Day Drive at Jim se Bos Informal Settlement

Reaching Out, a non-profit organisation, in Pelican Park, held a youth day drive at Jim se Bos informal settlement in Philippi on Monday June 16.
Founder Cheryl Halford said she and member Loren Cornelissen organised meals such as hot-dogs and snacks. They also gave head-bands to the girls and beach thongs to the boys.
Ms Halford said the reason why they chose to do a drive at Jim se Bos was because the Pelican Park community benefits from many foundations on this day, but at Jim se Bos the need is significant. "The kids don't have much, some children have no shoes and whenever I pass the area, I think this is where my assistance is needed on Youth Day."
