Anti-Gang Unit arrests suspect in Parkwood for illegal firearms possession

Members of the provincial police Anti-Gang Unit arrested an man for possession of illegal firearms at a house on Parkwood on Thursday evening, September 25.

Provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, said the arrest took place when members of the Anti-Gang Unit followed up on information about firearms at a premises in Parker’s Walk and searched the identified house.

“The members found a .38 special revolver with six rounds of ammunition without a serial number hidden in a bag. Upon further search of the house, the members found another firearm, a 9mm pistol without a serial number, hidden under a mattress in the room,” he said.

Sergeant Twigg said the Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 30-year-old male for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

 The suspect is due to make his court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged.
