Lotus River gymnast, Saarah Bosch, 7, continues to have a golden year in gymnastics after winning gold at the Gymnastics South Africa National Championships held in Mahikeng on Sunday, October 5.

She has won a gold medal as part of a Western Province trio with Shehaam Majiet and Tiara Tities in the aerobics gymnastic category at the National Championships.

Saarah’s mother, Rushana Bosch, said her daughter started doing gymnastics over two years ago. “She enjoys doing gymnastics; it is her passion. I am really proud of her,” she said.

Saarah belongs to the Wasabi Sports Club in Lotus River, where she did all her training, and throughout the year she competed in provincial competitions in Belhar and Kraaifontein in June and then in another provincial competition in Saldanha in August.

Ms Bosch said that throughout the year, Saarah competed in the three provincial competitions and one national competition, and she managed to pick up 23 medals in total, which included 10 gold medals throughout all the competitions.

“At a young age, it is amazing that she has many accomplishments,” she said.

Saarah specialises in aerobics gymnastics, where they do disciplines like a floor routine as a solo and a team.  She also specialises in artistic gymnastics, where she enjoys doing the floor, vault, and beam routine.

“I really love gymnastics a lot, I find it very exciting, and I hope one day to compete for my country,” said Saarah.

In many cases, when Saarah needs to travel for events, she needs a testimonial letter from her club to seek sponsorship for trips.

The Wasabi Sports Club administrator, Wayne Samuels, said that Saarah has demonstrated exceptional dedication, achieving outstanding results in the district competitions.

“Her selection to compete in the National Gymnastics Games is a testament of her skill and perseverance,” he said.
