Cameron Ward will be having a free concert to launch his new album Gospel Meets Jazz, at New Hope Church in Retreat, on Saturday May 14. Mr Ward, founder of the Cameron Ward Music Foundation, said his own band and singers feature on the album and the songs speak about his “journey in life” and about his church upbringing (“Cameron teaches music to kids from his hometown”, Southern Mail, March 9).
The Lotus River born and bred musician said the reason he combined the two genres was that he “grew up in a church with a strong gospel background”.
“I studied music and learned jazz so I decided why not bring the two together and make it one because both genres are very influential and play a big role in my life.”
