Ciara Roberts, 17, from Lotus River, has been dancing since the age of 4 and she and her dance partner Nuran Dietloff, 18, are setting their sights on winning the National Championship League 2 for Latin American dancing in Johannesburg, from Friday June 13 to Sunday June 15.

The couple also won the same competition last year, however, this year, in order for them to claim the gold medal again, the duo will still be needing R8 500 towards their trip and they are raising funds until their departure.

Ciara and Nuran are members of the AIM Talent Management Dance School, in Observatory, and they have been dancing together for almost two years.

Ciara said: “Since October 10, 2023, our partnership has blossomed into a beautiful synergy of movement and artistry, allowing us to transcend our individual boundaries and flourish as dancers. Under the expert guidance of our mentor, David Steyn, at AIM Talent Management Dance School, we have been able to hone our skills and push ourselves to new heights. Reflecting on the incredible journey that Nuran Dietloff and I have embarked upon, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude,” she said.

Nuran is from Paarl and when he meets up with Ciara at the dancing floor, sparks fly. “Our partnership has been a transformative experience, fostering an environment of mutual growth, trust, and support. Together, we have achieved numerous achievements including our recent back-to-back wins at the nationals in the Eastern Cape on April 26 and May 3. These victories have not only validated our hard work but have also instilled in us a sense of pride and accomplishment,” said Ciara.

The dynamic couple have been spending time showing their talent and compassion for the aged. “We have had the privilege of sharing our passion with the elderly at the CPOA Lotus River Retirement Home on Mother’s Day May 9.”

Ciara said: “As we look to the future, we are excited to take the floor again in Johannesburg,  and with every step, every movement, and every performance, we are reminded of the power of dance to transcend boundaries and bring people together. From the humble streets of Lotus River to the global stage, our journey is a testament to the transformative power of dedication, passion, and mentorship. We are eager to continue our journey, pushing the boundaries of our art and inspiring others along the way,” she said.
